Firewalls
This topic shows you how to create an exception for the Control Center in several popular firewall programs. Because firewalls are designed to block unwanted intrusions into your network, you must specify settings that tell the firewall that the Control Center should be allowed to communicate with the Network USB Hub on your network.
The instructions are for the versions of the firewall programs that appear below. If you have a different version of a given firewall, the locations of some options may differ from those provided here.
Windows Live OneCare
Mcafee Security Center 2007
Norton Internet Securities 2007
Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007
Zone Alarm
Windows Live OneCare
(1) Right click on the Windows Live OneCare Icon in the task bar.




The default path is: "C:\Program Files\BELKIN\Network USB Hub Control Center\Connect.exe".
(6) Check that the software is set to "allow". Click "Apply".
(7) Now go to "Ports and protocols", click "Add."

One for outgoing data

TCP or UDP: TCP
Port Range: 19540 to 19540
For Connections: Outbound [remote ports]
Scope: Internet
And one more exception for incoming data:

TCP or UDP: UDP
Port Range: 19540 to 19540
For Connections: Inbound [local ports]
Scope: Internet
(9) Check the created exceptions

(10) Finish the configuration

McAfee Security Center 2007
(1) Click Start>All Programs>McAfee. Select McAfee Security center.
Select Internet & Network (a) and then click on the option to "Configure" (b).

Now click "Advanced" (b).

Click "Add Allowed Program" (b).

The default path is: "C:\Program Files\BELKIN\Network USB Hub Control Center\Connect.exe"
Select the program (highlighted below) "Connect" and click "Open"

You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to apply.
Norton Internet Securities 2007
(1) Go to Start>All Programs>Norton
Internet Security. Select Norton Internet Security.
Expand Settings (a) and scroll down to "Internet Security and Firewall Options"
(b) and click it.



The default path is: "C:\Program Files\BELKIN\Network USB Hub Control Center\Connect.exe"
Select the program (highlighted below) "Connect" and click "Open"

Choose "Allow" and click OK.

(6) Click "Apply." This confirms and applies the exception for the Control Center.
You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to apply.
Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007
(1) Go to Start>All Programs>Trend
Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007. Select Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security
2007.



Click the "Program Control" tab (b).


(6) Click "Browse" and navigate to the location where you installed the Control Center.

The default location is:
"C:\Program Files\BELKIN\Network
USB Hub Control Center\Connect.exe"
Select the program "Connect" and
click Open.
(7) Ensure that the program setting is set on "Simple Mode" and that the "Allow" option is selected. Click OK, and then OK once more.

You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to apply.
Zone Alarm
(1) In the Network USB Hub Control Center, click Configure general Hub settings under Tasks in the Control Center. The Network USB Hub Settings Properties tabs appear. Select the Connected Hubs tab.
(2) Write down the IP of the Network USB Hub.
(3) Right Click on the ZoneAlarm Icon in the taskbar and open the ZoneAlarm Control Center


(5) Select "IP Address."

(6) Enter the IP address of your Network USB Hub that you wrote down earlier. Click OK.


Now the connection in the Control Center should be enabled.
